Designed to be straightforward
The site uses readable text, clear headings, visible keyboard focus and layouts that adapt to small screens. Links and controls can be operated without a mouse.
The main content is available without JavaScript. You can skip repeated navigation using the “Skip to content” link that appears when focused.
Navigation and reading
Use Tab to move between links and controls, and Enter to activate a link. The Resources menu uses a disclosure control. On smaller screens, the Menu button opens navigation when JavaScript is available.
Guides include a table of contents on wider screens. All sections remain available by scrolling on smaller screens.
The budget worksheet
Every input has a label and a description. Results are shown as text, not only as colour or a chart. The worksheet requires JavaScript to calculate, but its explanation includes a manual alternative.
If entering figures is difficult, you can take the income and cost categories directly to a debt adviser instead. Using the worksheet is not a condition of receiving help.
Zoom, motion and printing
The layout is designed to reflow with browser zoom and narrow screens. It respects reduced-motion preferences and provides print styles for guides and worksheet results.
Some comparison tables can be scrolled horizontally on small screens. The content is still presented as text.
